MLK Jr. Day

This will come as a shock to most liberals, but a few of my heroes are FDR, JFK and MLK. That was back when the Democratic party and being liberal stood for something, instead of against something. I met someone recently who did not know MLK was a preacher until she was an adult. Too bad.

Hmm... I not a fan FDR or JFK. They did nothing worthwhile (though I respect them more than I respect most democrats today).

MLK was a different story though, and I definitely respect him.

Well, both FDR and JFK believed in Ameircan exceptionalism. They both subscribed to the view that America could exert itself with finances and military might as a force for good in the world. The current crop of liberals take the position that since we cannot stop ALL of the injustice in the world, we should not even try to stop any of it. They also pose the idea that since we are incapable of fighting for pure motives (in their opinion) that we are an evil, dangerous country.
